| PROFILE Stats | DJ | Biography | Bands | + / — | DJ Name: Maschinengel  My first real experience behind the mixer, occured at the tender age of seventeen. My friend Jennifer and I were given the opportunity to "DJ" at a night called Psychoburbia in Washington D.C. We did a very "interesting" tag team for about 10-20 people. While I can't remember the exact date, it was in 2000. I still have the setlist to this day, and if it weren't so shameful I would definately post it. Lets just say it involves such cookie cutter bands such as Wolfsheim, Fictional, VNV Nation mixed in with Hocico, F/A/V, and Infact .. Yeah .. I don't know what I was thinking. My interest in DJING later peaked again when I had my own radio "show" slot on Subkultures.net for a short period of time. It was then that I started to get into DJING at the clubs. Since then I have DJED at least a few dozen times at various clubs around D.C. Past events include: Midnight, Question Mark, Alchemy DC, Desade, and Tomb. It seems that everyone and their mom these days are a goth/industrial DJ. My interest in spinning is mostly a hobby which I dabble in from time to time. I have yet to be a resident at a club. I enjoy guesting more so than anything, because it keeps the experience of spinning fresh and interesting. My main objective? To play the music I love for people to merely expose them to something new and different. I am aware of the fact that many people are hesitant to accept change. There are definately patterns of songs which are played in the clubs each week, and I try not to fit into that mold. I do try to play as many requests as possible .. but I refuse to play VNV Nation, crappy overplayed 80's songs, and there is a big "hell no" to nu-metal (and yes, that includes NIN/Manson/Rammstein). I am always interested in guest DJ gigs on the Northeast Area for goth/industrial clubs!
